Advice From Our Founders
Restoring our "empire of liberty"
Hello friends,
We’ve been talking often on The World According to Ben Stein about how to get our country focused on the matters we know to be important- family, capitalism, and limited government. We discuss many grand ideas and complicated issues, but it is important to remember these principles we hold dear were put into practice long before us, and will hopefully help us refocus our country in the near future. Here are five quotes I took a moment to gather that remind me what we’re advocating for, and why we should hold our heads high everyday and proclaim them proudly:
"We should then have only to include the north in our Confederacy, which would be of courts in the first war, and we should have such an empire for liberty as she has never surveyed since the creation" ~Thomas Jefferson
“Liberty may be endangered by the abuse of liberty, but also by the abuse of power.” ~James Madison
“Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light.” ~George Washington
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~Benjamin Franklin
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” ~John Adams

These are more than just quotes. They are the bedrock of our Constitution and Sovereignty. There is no other nation that has set itself apart. No other. Yet many want to let Her wallow in ruin like many other nations before and presently. The hatred, jealousy, and greed that oozes from the pus pocket of the Washington DC area through politicians, journalists, lobbyists, lawyers, government workers and the like, are not the norm of American Citizens who are good and decent. Yet their cancer spreads.
Thank you for these quotes, particularly the last one by John Adams. I needed to read these today and feel the uplifting of my soul that they gave me.
Adams's quote was a powerful reminder that other countries--and those here in America who don't understand or respect what she was founded on--hold no power or righteousness in judging us, dictating to us, or criticizing us.
