The Only Thing to Know About the Oscars
There was one, small, glimmer of something worth noting

Did you watch the Oscars this week? Excuse me for asking a question where the answer is so obvious, since numbers show that this was the lowest viewed Oscars… EVER!
From blowhards tooting their horns about issues they don’t come close to understanding, to people who play pretend for a living dishing out advice on how real, hardworking people should live their lives, it was apparently everything any of us could have expected.
However, there was one story from that night worth nothing.
Chinese authorities blocked a live stream organized in support of Best Director winner Chloe Zhao by a group of former students from her alma mater, New York University…
However, the video stream, organized by the Alumni Society of New York University, was delayed for two hours after organizer Kevin Ke lost access to his virtual private network (VPN), which would have allowed them to watch the event on YouTube, which is banned in China.
“They cut the VPN,” Ke told Reuters.
He said the regime previously suspended his WeChat after he praised Zhao.
Zhao won an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Directing for her film Nomadland starring Frances McDormand, which also took an Oscar for Best Picture and earned McDormand her third and fourth Oscars, for Best Picture as a co-producer and best leading actress…
Zhao has been criticized by China for an old interview where she described growing up in China, “a place where there are lies everywhere.” The country erased mentions of Zhao’s film online and there were calls to boycott the movie.
