That is abuse on every level: spiritual, emotional, and physical. It may be easy to say to ourselves that we would not have eaten the pizza. However, when we are taken by surprise, we have no time to think. I’m still kicking myself to this day because I didn’t immediately get up during one job interview where I was backed into a religious corner. But, my mindset at that time was that I needed that job and had believed God was going to provide it after working towards that goal for a long six years.

This isn’t our parents’ America, and we need to take a stand now before we lose the option to later. Praying for that one forced to eat pork.

I'm from this area and have to speak up about this. Unfortunately, the media, as usual, didn't share the whole story.

While I disagree with the coach's method of discipline, we all need to know this was NOT an instance of intentional religious violations. According to the coach AND many of the 100+ athletes who were all there when the incident occurred, the coach immediately apologized and offered chicken nuggets as an alternative option when the player brought up his inability to eat pork. It was the PLAYER, himself, who told the coach not to worry about it because he would just pick the pepperoni off the pizza. Interestingly enough, the one assistant coach who remained on staff after this is the one who spoke to the parents of the player afterward and allegedly purposely misrepresented what happened.

Also, please keep in mind that the Hebrew Israelites are recognized as often being racist and anti-Semetic. They do not consider themselves Jews or Jewish. In fact, if you remember, members of this same "religion" were the ones who initiated the entire Nick Sandman situation that included the false narrative about him mocking the Native American with the drums. The Hebrew Israelite members were at the start of the edited clip and were saying HIDEOUS, racist things to the young white students.

A quick bit of research into this "religious" group will disabuse you quickly of the notion that this was another example of anti-Semitism; it was a really stupid attempt by a coach to discipline a kid for cutting out on practice and nothing more. We need to be careful of the stories we are running with, especially when the media is presenting only one side.

Absolutely inexcusable. Any staff who participated should be severely punishment including pay withheld during the time.
