I teach my relatives how to do things for themselves. I give them tools I don’t need. I try to equip them for life, but I don’t give them cash.
I completely agree with the Shaq. My sons are full grown now, but they always knew their parent’s money or lack of, was not theirs too. Instead, financial discussions were made about saving, and earning your own spending. My 22yo son has been floating his own boat since he was 19.
It is an unfortunate disservice that parents today have not done their job as parents. It is a parents responsibility to raise children to be independent not codependent or dependent.
