When my office was forced to close in 2020 I saw the onset of liberal policies in Philadelphia, and the destruction of my beautiful city. The riots by antifa, the liberal DA revolving door and lenient sentencing policies, the liberal mayor and his lack of concern for the spike in violent crime - we all realized there was no returning. My alma mater Temple has seen murders on/near campus that claimed one of my sons friends life. My father went to college there too, but we are fearful of returning to see a basketball game. Or going out to dinner.
I didn’t flee the city. The city is being directed and forced to fail any sensible policy and I am not welcome any longer.
Philthadelphia is a festering canker sore in my Keystone State. If there were an earthquake and the city got floated over to the People’s Republic of New Jersey I wouldn’t care a bit. And the two are a match made in hell
I moved from San Diego to Washington state 33 years ago. Felt safe in Seattle for many years, plays, food, bars, season tickets to the symphony. Now it's a cesspool. We have a dem worthless governor, 2 lazy dem women senators, horrible mayors everywhere, and King county, a HUGE gerrymandering county, calls the shots for the whole state. Career politicians have ruined it. It's sad. I have thought of moving, but I have health problems and all my doctors are here.
And Ben we cannot say thank you enough for your show and the wealth of knowledge you share and the guests you bring on and their knowledge. Thank you and Judah, Gary, Miles, Remso….etc.
We left the Chicago area in 2020 after all the riots and smash and grab! Moved to FL where our taxes are substantially lower, crime definitely lower and we enjoy a much better quality of life!!!
Let’s just hope all those fleeing from blue-democrat states don’t come to our red-states and still vote blue-democrat! Js imo! Florida where we love our Governor-DeSantis who’s for the people! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My comment is full of generalities, but valid for the majority, in general ...
Cities are where people who are dependent congregate. That dependency is greatly variable from a dependency on government run support systems (medicare, social security, public transportation, subsidized housing, groceries, energy supplies), to a need for constant social interaction to a dependency to not be alone (not necessarily "lonely").
Rural areas are full of people who are self-sufficient, not dependent on anything other than that which nature provides, and usually always planning for alternatives when that doesn't pan out.
(As a side note, the degradation of the rural, agrarian way of life began when the "progressive" movement began subsidizing farms and mandating crops and output quotas and maximums. This created a dependency on government programs, and a weakening of their independence and strength.)
Why are people leaving cities? Because the light is becoming blindingly obvious that more government control of everyday life, which cities optimize, is failing and they are seeking refuge in the few remaining islands of sanity which the progressive left hasn't destroyed, yet.
My husband and I just moved from Illinois to Oklahoma at the beginning of the year. We are both absolutely thrilled with our new home state and so relieved to have that liberal hornets' nest in the rearview. As a bonus, we took two good paying jobs with us. Enjoy your tax-crazy, crime-ridden utopia, Dems!

Moved out of Commifornia in 2020!
19 months and 29 days until my pension.
20 months and one day until I move out of this corrupt and thieving state.
